Are We Hiring the Right Contractor?
When looking to expand your ministry space, choosing the right contractor is key to ensuring you don't get taken for a ride. Many contractors are established, reliable companies, but there are those who are less than reputable. Below is a list of questions to ask yourself when deciding whether or not the contractor you choose is in fact trustworthy. The following questions are based on guidelines by the Federal Trade Commission.
Last Name:  First Name:
1
Does your contractor solicit door-to-door?

2
Does your contractor offer discounts for finding other customers?

3
Do they just happen to have materials left over from a previous job?

4
Does the contractor only accept cash payments?

5
Has the church been asked to get the required building permits?

6
Does the contractor have a business number in the local phonebook?

7
Have you been told that your project will be a "demonstration?"

8
Is the church being pressured for an immediate decision?

9
Are the contractor's guarantees exceptionally long?

10
Is the church required to pay for the entire job up-front?

11
Has the contractor suggested you borrow money from a lender the contractor knows?
