Do we inspect the following items before each road trip?

  • adequate fluid levels
  • proper tire pressure and wear
  • working headlights
  • working taillights
  • working turn signals
  • working dashboard gauges and warning lights
  • mirrors
  • seat belts
  • spare tire is in good repair
  • a jack and tools to change a flat tire
  • no signs of other obvious hazards
  • all vehicles begin the trip with a full tank of gas

Are the following emergency items available on the vehicle:

  • roadside warning signs and red distress flags
  • flares
  • flashlight with fully charged batteries
  • emergency phone numbers
  • the standard tools and equipment needed to change a flat tire
  • booster cables
  • first aid kit
  • an operational manual for the vehicle

Do vehicles have first aid kits that include:

  • bandages
  • gauze
  • cold packs
  • tape
  • protective gloves
  • antibacterial cream

If the trip is in cold weather, do we have the following items on hand:

  • blankets
  • shovel
  • windshield scraper and brush
  • waterproof matches
  • bag of sand
  • portable radio
  • emergency rations
